Description from the seller

Description of the work
Asterione is a plaster bust of the Minotaur, conceived as an original model from which the mold was taken for the subsequent execution of the work in bronze by lost-wax casting. The work documents the original moment of creation, in which the form comes to life directly from the material and the artist’s gesture.

Asterione is the authentic name of the Minotaur in Greek mythology: not a mere monster, but an archetypal figure who embodies instinctual force, primordial power, and the conflict between nature and consciousness. The bust focuses attention on the expression and the structure of the face, making visible what is usually relegated to the labyrinth of the unconscious.

Features
• Title: Asterione
• Subject: Bust of the Minotaur
• Material: Plaster
• Technique: Original model for lost-wax casting
Height: 41 cm
Width: 23 cm
Depth: 13 cm
Production: Italy

Note for collectors
The plaster model is a unique work, created before the bronze casting, and preserves in full the imprint of the creative gesture. Each mark bears witness to the sculpting process in its most authentic and unrepeatable phase.
