Item Description
This charming Kutani ware tea bowl showcases a beautiful interplay of rich brown and deep black glazes that create a captivating gradient effect across its surface. The iron-rich glaze produces subtle variations in tone, with warm amber hues flowing naturally into darker charcoal tones, reminiscent of autumn landscapes at dusk.
The bowl exhibits a classic rounded form with gentle curves, perfectly proportioned for enjoying tea. The glaze application demonstrates skilled craftsmanship, with the colors melding seamlessly while maintaining distinct character zones that catch and reflect light beautifully. The foot ring is cleanly executed with a natural clay base visible, showing traditional Kutani pottery techniques.
This piece comes with its original signed wooden box (tomobako), which bears the inscription "Saisai Chaki Hai" (Fine Color Tea Vessel) and is signed "Ikken" with the date mark "Heisei 9" (1997), confirming its authenticity as a late 20th-century Kutani ware piece.
