Finely decorated on both sides with a framed design in yellow and white slip, comprising an intricate geometrical pattern, a band of laurel branches with berries and bands of vertical lines. Two applied handles. Exquisite. A sessile (meaning sitting) kantharos is an Athenian drinking cup characterized by a deep, cylindrical bowl and two vertical handles that do not extend above the rim. Unlike traditional, high-stemmed kantharoi, the sessile type features a low, moulded foot, providing enhanced stability.
