Ancient Greek culture: Déesse Perséphone seated on a throne, an archaic votive terracotta statuette in beige with traces of engobe and polychromy, 10.2 cm high by 4.3 cm wide, dating to the 5th century BC, in good condition with no restorations, acquired in 2025 from France via Galerie/Antiquaire, previously owned since 1980.
Description from the seller
A very pretty archaic votive statuette of a woman depicted as the goddess Persephone, wearing a polos, seated on a throne.
She wears a long tunic that reaches down to her ankles, leaving her feet visible. Her hands are resting on her knees, beneath her tunic.
The seated position and the clothing suggest that the figure could be a goddess.
Light beige terracotta with traces of white engobe and polychromy..
Dating: Greece, Archaic period, 5th century BCE.
Dimensions: height 10.2 cm x width 4.3 cm
Piece in excellent condition; well preserved—no restoration.
Provenance: France, Etude C.V.C.
