AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

I am offering this magnificent, large cache-pot, produced in the 1800s–1850s from Raeren stoneware, which I believe comes from Raeren (Belgium).

Initially, the Raeren stonewares are characterized by a finish with a beautiful glossy brown color brought by salt glaze firing.
From 1583, the brown engobe decoration is replaced by cobalt blue on a gray background.
From the 17th century, the use of manganese, a high-fire color, will enable the appearance of violet and brown decorations.

The Raeren sandstones are mainly decorated with relief motifs and scenes whose themes regularly include peasants, religion, mythology, and political propaganda.

Lion head décor and Putti scenes (cherubs)

Body diameter: 23.5 cm
Internal diameter of the neck : 17 cm
Height: 24 cm
weight: 3.5 kg
Excellent state of preservation. I show in the photo a few tiny chips on the inner edge and the base, which do not detract from the charm of this antique piece.

Highly protected shipment with insurance will be provided.
