On the reverse is a stamp from a Berlin-based supplier of painting supplies. It points to a German painter from the late 19th century.

The painter has masterfully depicted the distinctive atmosphere of the Paestum temples in the evening light of the Campagna, where the setting sun bathes the well-preserved Greek temples in magical, golden light.
