Marein Konijn's Mud path is an original oil painting in the Impressionist landscape style, signed and dated 2019, measuring 80 cm high by 100 cm wide, weighing 4 kg, sold with a black wooden frame, from the Netherlands, with a certificate of authenticity.
Description from the seller
This painting shows a muddy road full of puddles of water, an apparently ordinary place that, in the light of the setting sun, takes on a special charge. The sun is low and casts a warm, golden glow over the landscape, creating strong reflections in the water. The contrast between light and dark is heightened: the wet earth absorbs the light, while the puddles reflect it back, almost lighting the landscape.
The road pictured is a place I often walk with my dog. It is precisely that familiarity that makes the moment special; what is normally taken for granted is, because of the circumstances, suddenly intensely beautiful. The setting sun transforms the mud, the water, and the sky into a hushed, almost painterly scene.
This work is part of a series that arose from a period of prolonged rain in the Northern Netherlands. In all the paintings, flooded meadows, mud pools, water, and reflections are central. The series explores how water temporarily alters the landscape and how light and weather conditions can elevate the everyday to something poetic and layered.
The painting is signed on the front and back.
The painting is framed in a black wooden box frame. The framed painting measures about 85 x 105 cm, 3.5 cm deep.
The painting is delivered with a certificate of authenticity.
