Description from the seller
Item Description
Traditional Japanese Nambu cast iron wind chime 南部鉄器(Nanbu Tekki) in an exceptionally large size, featuring a striking lantern-shaped body with an owl silhouette cut-out design. Compared to ordinary Japanese wind chimes, this is a rare oversized example with strong visual impact and decorative presence.
Nambu ironware, produced in Iwate Prefecture, is highly valued for its durability and beautifully resonant sound. When the bell swings in the wind, it produces a clear yet deep tone unique to cast iron—soft, calm, and lingering, creating a distinctly Japanese summer atmosphere.
The architectural lantern-style form combined with the delicate cut-out owl motif gives the piece both sculptural elegance and functional charm. The original paper tanzaku enhances airflow and sound movement, making the chime responsive even to gentle breezes.
Comes in its original box labeled 南部鉄器 / 南部銘産.
