Description from the seller
This painting came about after a walk with a friend along the Pieterpad, the long-distance trail that runs from Pieterburen to the Sint-Pietersberg. During a stage in Drenthe we had already walked for several hours when we reached a small pond. At the edge of the water we paused for a moment and let the landscape sink in.
What struck me most about this place was the opening in the horizon, where a solitary tree stood, clearly set off against the space around it. That lone tree acts as a quiet anchor point in the landscape. The color of the water also caught my eye: up close it had a soft green glow, while farther away it reflected the sky and thus changed color.
The painting captures this moment of pause and attention, in which walking makes way for looking. The landscape becomes not only a place in space, but also a memory of time, companionship, and stillness.
The painting is signed on the front and back.
The painting is framed in a black, wooden box frame. The framed painting measures 85 x 105 cm and is 3.5 cm deep.
The painting is delivered with a certificate of authenticity.
