Wallace Silversmiths is a prominent American manufacturer of fine sterling silver, silverplate, and stainless steel flatware and hollowware. Founded in 1835 by Robert Wallace, the company is legendary for its craftsmanship and "Three-Dimension" designs.
History and Ownership
Founding: Robert Wallace established the company in Wallingford, Connecticut, after making the first nickel silver spoon in America in 1835.
Evolution: Originally known as R. Wallace & Sons, it became Wallace Silversmiths in 1956.
Wallace is best known for its ornate patterns from the 1930s and 40s, many of which are considered "Three-Dimension" because their intricate designs are visible from the front, back, and profile.
Grande Baroque (1941):
The company's most famous and best-selling pattern, characterized by its lavish, floral Rococo style.
