Comtoise clock (2) - Wood, Brass, Iron - 1850-1900

Magnificent clock in the Comtois style, signed 'Jean le Comtois - Haut Jura'. This timepiece blends the charm of traditional French craftsmanship with the robustness of Jura mechanisms.
The clock is set in a superb solid oak cabinet, with a rounded upper section and an elaborately worked cornice. The front reveals a white enamel dial with Roman numerals, surrounded by a richly decorated brass pediment (featuring typical motifs of agrarian or allegorical scenes).
Sold with its large, spectacular lyre pendulum (brass rods and twisted steel with a polished brass lens).

Type of movement: weight-driven mechanical. It’s a so-called 'iron cage' movement, reputed for its exceptional longevity and ease of maintenance.
Training: The movement is actuated by two cast-iron weights suspended by high-strength nylon/hemp ropes.
Chime: * The clock strikes the hours and half-hours on a gong (metal bell) located on top of the movement (visible in the photos).
It has the typical feature of Comtoise clocks: the 'hour reminder' (it chimes the hour a second time a few minutes after the first ring to be sure you have counted it correctly).
Highlights
The lyre pendulum with a twisted balance is a decorative piece in its own right.
A healthy and clean mechanism.
A high-quality wooden piece of furniture with no signs of xylophages (woodworms). It works, but I don’t have the weights with it nor the key, and I think it needs a service/overhaul on it.
