Andy Warhol (1928-1987) was an American artist, film director, and author. He also worked as a music producer and actor. From his background and experience in applied arts, Warhol was one of the protagonists of pop art in the United States during the 1950s and 1960s. Warhol is especially famous for his flat and high-contrast paintings and silkscreens of packaged products and everyday objects, as well as for his stylized portraits of 20th-century celebrities like Marilyn Monroe, Mick Jagger, Grace Jones, and others.
