Jos van Dijk (1913-2000) - Jodebreestraat in de winter

Jos van Dijk lived from 1913 to 1998. He was briefly a member of the Cobra group, but he continued painting figuratively as well. Through a friendly dealer, a painting ended up in the Guggenheim. He kept his studio at Bos en Lommerweg 123, three storeys up, until he turned 65.

This work was probably painted after 1978, when Jos van Dijk continued painting on the basis of earlier works and sketches.
