Antique earthenware plate from the Netherlands in Delft Blue with a hand-painted chinoiserie motif, featuring a central scene in cobalt blue and floral ornamentation, diameter 33.5 cm, height 5 cm, depth 33.5 cm, in fair to reasonable condition with edge chips and glaze wear.
Description from the seller
Antique earthenware dish, executed in classic Delft blue with a hand-painted chinoiserie decoration.
In the center, a scene with figures in a garden landscape, surrounded by floral and ornamental motifs in cobalt blue.
The painting is applied by hand and shows the characteristic brushwork and variation in blue tones that are typical of early Delftware.
The back features simple blue dots, a common marking on older, unsigned Delftware.
The dish has a thick shard and a slightly irregular shape, consistent with 18th-century production.
The plate is in an archaeological state: along the rim there are several clear chips and rim flaws, as well as glaze wear and signs of aging.
These damages are old and testify to long-term use and age.
Condition
Fair to good antique condition.
Several edge chips and nicks are visible, glaze wear, small pits, and age spots.
In accordance with age and use.
Not included as standard.
Dimensions
Height: 5 cm.
Width: 33.5 cm.
Depth: 33.5 cm.
Weight: approx. 1 kg.
The lot is carefully packaged and sent by registered mail, insured, with a track-and-trace number.
