Description from the seller
Yuri Krotov Art
Yuri Krotov was born in 1964 in Grivenskaya Cossack Settlement, in the Krasnodar Territory, near the Sea of Azov.
At the age of eight, Krotov met a local painter, G.A. Polugaev, who became his mentor. With Polugaev, Krotov went to Moscow and enrolled in the Moscow Art School, under the auspices of the Surikov Art Institute. After high school, he served in the Soviet army for two years before entering the Moscow Academic Art Institute, named after V.I. Surikov.
Krotov's impressionist painting style developed during his travels to France, Spain, Italy, Great Britain, Monaco, and other European countries. After these trips and his participation in auctions and exhibitions, Krotov embarked on a creative journey to his native Cossack village in the Kuban region, where he painted Ataman Leord, A Morning in Kuban, Ataman's Fishing, and Among the Lotuses.
After this period of reflection and creation, Krotov resurfaces in 1992 during a prestigious sale of Russian paintings at the renowned Drouot auction house in Paris. Although he is a modest man who prefers to stay out of the spotlight, Krotov has been repeatedly invited to return, and his works are now exhibited permanently.
Krotov's fluid brushstrokes, painted in a quick and free manner, create a sense of movement throughout the details of his art. The capture of these fleeting moments in bold and energetic colors makes it one of collectors' favorite works.
