Description from the seller
Born in Zagreb, Tugomir Huberger studied there after attending a humanistic secondary school at the Academy of Fine Arts. There he studied under Motika, Antunac, and Rukljac. In 1949 he exhibited for the first time within the Zagreb Academy; in 1951 it was the second time. In 1957 followed a group exhibition in Paris; here Huberger's paintings and sculptures outside his homeland received their first attention. Since then he was regarded as a rising star on the Yugoslav art scene. At the end of 1958 he moved from Paris to Erlangen in Bavaria, which he made his chosen home. From 1962 to 1984 he was a lecturer for drawing and sculpture at the Volkshochschule in Erlangen. In 1965 he was a co-founder of the artist group "Thalerei".
