Dora 銅鑼 Fish-shaped gong, bronze, origin Japan, 1 item, in good condition and tested and working.
Description from the seller
This is a very valuable gong (dora 銅鑼, Fish-shaped gong) with bumpy.
It is thought to be around 100-150 years old.
I have seen many gongs, but a fish-shaped gong is extremely rare.
A gong (dora) is a Japanese percussion instrument that produces sound by striking a bronze or brass disc with a drumstick. It is used in a variety of situations, including Buddhist memorial services, the music for folk performing arts, background music for kabuki, and as a signal to set sail.
It originated as a percussion instrument used by the southern peoples of ancient Java and Sumatra, and is said to have been introduced to Japan via China and Korea. In Japan, it has been used to signal the departure of ships and in the tea ceremony, and began to be produced in Kanazawa as the tea ceremony became more popular.
