Antique Madura Kris - Java - Indonesia
Description:
Wilah: 9 luk kling, beautifully slim as mythology intended: symbolically a snake in action.
Warangka: Sandang walikat boat model, this is a type you see less often.
Carving: antler grip, and you can clearly see the distinctive features of the antlers. Good patina. On the reverse side you can see how beautifully the texture has become smooth over the centuries.
Pendok: silver, bunton outer sheath with fine floral engravings and small foliate work (Daunan) motif on the back underside (and indeed a Banyumas type for the connoisseur). Lightly silvered.
In short: a collectible kris to add to the collection.
