Description from the seller

Presented is a special opera glass—a Josef Rodenstock rarity!
Gold-plated brass with iridescent mother-of-pearl decorations! Completely intact!
Clear view, cleaned.
1890-1918, Munich–Berlin, J. Rodenstock.
Josef Rodenstock (1846–1932) was a pioneering German industrialist and the founder of the world-renowned optics company Rodenstock.
Important life milestones
Origin: He was born on April 11, 1846 in Ershausen (Thuringia) and grew up in modest circumstances.
Beginnings: By the age of 14, he had already started as a traveling salesman, selling glasses and barometers to support his family.
Founding of the company: In 1877, he, together with his brother Michael, founded in Würzburg the workshop 'G. Rodenstock', which manufactured mathematical and physical precision instruments as well as eyeglasses.
Expansion: In 1883 he moved the company headquarters to Munich. In 1898 he opened another factory in Regen.
The term H.S.M. Hoflieferant is today found primarily on antique optical instruments, especially from the company Josef Rodenstock.
The abbreviation stands for Court Supplier to His Majesty. In the historical context of the German monarchy (until 1918), this title referred to a special honor for merchants or craftsmen who possessed the privilege of supplying the court of a sovereign.
Retirement and death: In 1919 he finally handed over the management to his son Alexander Rodenstock. He died on 18 February 1932 at the age of 85 in Erl (Tyrol).

The specified measurements refer to the extended opera glass.
Mother-of-pearl sheets intact.
Brass, probably gold-plated.
Optical lenses!
GuteSucht.
Eye pads, also in mother-of-pearl.
The lenses can be pulled out for cleaning!

A rare piece!
For enthusiasts and collectors of high interest!
