One French porcelain inkpot from the 19th century in good, used condition with minor signs of aging and staining, 11 cm high by 14 cm wide by 11 cm deep, decorated with floral motifs and faces and including a sand shaker and a pen holder, with one very small chip inside the lid that is not visible from the outside.

AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

A beautiful authentic French porcelain ink pot, probably from the second half of the 19th century but possibly from the first half. The ink pot is still in good condition with the usual wear of the painted gold rims here and there. The golden floral ornamentation on the outside has, however, remained intact. There is one very small chip, see photo, on the inside of the lid but that is not visible from the outside. The lovely floral paintings with which the ink pot is covered have remained in good condition. The sand shaker was used to sprinkle the sand over the freshly written text, and in addition there is the ink pot itself and a pen holder. The ink pot is decorated with flowers and some faces (hermen). Inkwells were in the well-to-do circles in the 19th century both decorative and practical and were often given as gifts. This ink pot is a fine example of 19th-century French (Parisian) porcelain craftsmanship.
