Description from the seller
A complete manuscript of Persian poetry, with 414 pages, containing 6 (six) illuminated header pages, one front then regularly spaced through the text. It has not been possible to place exactly which of the great Persian epic poems this is, but mention is made of the Mathnavi and of Rumi. Likely mid to late C18th and written in black nasta'liq. There is prolific commentary in the margins throughout suggesting this may have been a scholarly artifice kept in a place of learning. it is in fair condition, with some page repair particular the edges of pages and there are a few 'loose' pages (but not fully separated) 2/3 of the way through the manuscript. These should be treated carefully and repaired as soon as possible.
The 6 illuminated panels of Ottoman design are in good condition considering its age and use.
Please note that shipping costs are not solely the cost of the postal delivery service itself. Included within the shipping price is the work undertaken to prepare the article, for photography, for uploading to Catawiki, for preparation and packaging the article securely and for transporting the article to the postal delivery agent for processing.
Also, please consider when bidding on this lot that this artwork is shipped from the UK. Import duties will now have to be paid by the recipient to the Postal Service when the parcel arrives in your country. This will likely vary between 5% and 20% of the sale price depending on your country's Import Rate, so please check this if you are concerned. This is a Tax collected on behalf of your Government and is not an additional fee charged by us.
