Beautiful set of four original Indonesian wooden rod puppets (Wayang Golek) from Java (Indonesia). The puppets are hand-carved and painted and wear richly decorated costumes with ornate ribbons, embroidery/trimmings, and sequins.
The set consists of two male figures in black/cream suits and two female/aristocratic figures in green court attire with headpieces and decorative details. The dolls have the typical construction of wayang golek: wooden heads and arms, control sticks, and textile clothing.
A decorative and characterful set for lovers of Asian art, theatre and ethnographic artifacts.
