Oswald Poreau, born in Schaerbeek 1877, died in Waterloo 1955. Post-Impressionist painter of landscapes, harbors, flowers and portraits. Etcher and lithographer. After leaving the Military School, first training with the family friend J. Quinaux (from 1894) and, against his father's wishes, further training in architecture and painting at the Brussels Academy (until 1900, J. Stallaert). To earn a living he restores paintings. For several years he swaps painting for music. After his marriage to a musician (1905) he settles in Paris and works in Barbizon / France. Returns to Belgium and makes numerous trips to Germany, England and especially to France where he often works in Brittany. In Belgium he paints on the coast, at the banks of the Scheldt and the industrial landscapes of the Borinage. He meets in 1906 M. Blieck, who exerts a great influence on him. He endures many difficulties due to the protracted illness of his wife. He finds solace and support with musician and painter Yvonne Vonnot-Viollet. Works in the possession of the royal family, the State and in the Museums of Schaerbeek, Temse and Mulhouse.
The painting is sent by registered mail and well packed.
