Giancarlo Sani is a Tuscan painter and printmaker (born in 1932) known for his works that celebrate nature and life with a poetic style, rooted in his land, avoiding rigid codifications and showing a strong connection with rock art, of which he is also a scholar and promoter, founding the Centro Arte Rupestre Toscano. His canvases, ranging from landscapes to scenes of daily life, express sincere emotions and are distinguished by a naturalistic description and an emotive approach.
The artist paints with a spirit rooted in his homeland, avoiding rigid, codified references. His works do not follow conventional schools, but convey sincere and poetic emotions, immersed in nature and the variety of life. The artist avoids abstruse intellectual complications and technical virtuosity, preferring an approach based on sincerity and solid preparation. His creations reveal a pastoral and simple world, permeated by a frank Tuscan sensibility, a dimension that today seems to elude the understanding and meaning of modern man.
Giancarlo Sani preserves and passes on this heritage through a painterly language that makes use of light, the delicacy of the compositions, and an extremely sensitive color palette, resulting in an artist who demonstrates a remarkable painting technique based on a structurally layered use of color and a composition with broad brushstrokes inspired by Post-Impressionism.
