A very good example of a saber like sword or pedang from Timor. Simple but very nice carved handle of horn. Plain wooden sheath is having weaved rattan bindings. Long, thick and very sturdy blade with an arcing profile and a pointy tip.
Although this piece shows signs of use it has fantastic rich decoration. Its honey-colored patina, indicating its considerable age, combined with its elegant design, make it an ethnographic object and collector’s item of great interest.
