Description from the seller
This drawing is sold without frame.
Martijn van Berkum is an artist whose work has been exhibited and collected in museums and galleries around the world, such as the Helsinki City Art Museum and Momentum, The Nordic Biennale. This highly detailed, hand-made drawing is part of Non-Functional Structures, a series in which he draws architectural objects. His aim is to render architecture useless, in order to open it for alternative and speculative interpretations. The question that runs through his work is: What is the potential and value of architecture, when it is no longer functional?
This new drawings opens up a new direction, by adding a natural element to the drawing. It emphasises a tension but also a connection between nature and architecture. How can they coexist? And can architecture be inspired by nature?
