A set of seven transparent crystal wine or water glasses dating from the late 19th/early 20th century, with guilloché engraving in an Eclectic/Art Nouveau style, each about 13.5 cm high with a bowl diameter of 8 cm and a base diameter of 6.7 cm, in good vintage condition with minor signs of age and stains.
Description from the seller
This refined set consists of seven crystal wine or water glasses in transparent crystal, dating from the late nineteenth or early twentieth century. The glasses feature a classic and elegant line, typical of the great French crystal houses such as Baccarat or Meisenthal (as suggested by the attached "Guillochage" model catalogs).
Material: High-quality crystal, characterized by notable transparency and brilliance.
Form (Body): The cup has a tulip-shaped form, slightly flared upward, resting on a smooth, cylindrical stem. The foot is circular and flat, ensuring excellent stability.
Decoration (Guilloché): The strong point of these glasses is the refined mechanical guilloché engraving. The decoration develops on the upper part of the bowl with:
A upper horizontal band composed of a geometric chain motif or interlaced rings (similar to model 1001 highlighted in the catalog).
A series of undulating and dotted lines underneath that create a visual effect of lightness and movement, typical of the era's fine engraving work.
Style: The design belongs to the Eclectic/Art Nouveau style, where the precision of mechanical geometry marries the delicacy of wave motifs.
The goblets are in excellent vintage condition. The engraving is sharp, and the crystal shows no obvious opacity, preserving the classic charm of past luxury tableware.
These goblets represent an excellent example of French industrial craftsmanship, ideal for collectors or to enhance a formal dining table with a touch of historical elegance.
