Oval French jewellery casket from 1940–1950, made of alloy with textile elements, in good condition with small signs of ageing and originating in France.
Description from the seller
This elegant oval casket stands on four decorative feet with richly cast acanthus motifs and features finely detailed scrolling relief along the sides.
The hinged lid holds a glass panel with floral embroidery beneath, showcasing delicate hand-stitched flowers in soft pastel tones on a fine mesh background. A charming detail typical of French vanity pieces from the late Napoleon III to the early Art Nouveau era.
Inside, the box retains its original gilded interior, giving it a beautiful warm glow. The gilt bronze surface has developed a lovely patina.
Condition:
Very good antique condition with light surface wear, small glass chips (vey light and only around the edges. Holds firm and hardly noticeable), and a mild wobble on the base (very little). The piece remains firm and beautifully preserved with attractive patina.
A fantastic decorative 19th-century French jewelry casket, ideal for collectors or as a romantic décor accent.
Dimensions:
Height: 4 cm
Width: 9.5 cm
Depth: 7 cm
