AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Antique Spanish silver wax jack, used to seal letters with snuffer and beeswax wick. This is marked 5 MTR worn with the mark for Zaragoza, Spain. I have seen a similar wax jack with the same markings, and this could be circa the earlier part of the 1700s. Wax jacks were used in the 18th and 19th centuries for melting wax to seal letters and documents. This one measures 165 mm in height and the base is 110 mm in diameter. The handle extends about 30 mm in width. The wax taper weighs 318 grams, but this does include the weight of the wax. Hallmarked with ZII which stands for Dutch import silver type 835/1000. The candle snuffer seems not to be original Spanish, according to the “T” hallmark, it probably is Dutch 1853, but it fits perfectly. For refilling, the beeswax can be got on Amazon. No surface scratches, this item is in very good antique condition. Please see all the photos.
