Fingerprints is a self-portrait born from the meeting between body and landscape, where the skin becomes an extension of the earth and the earth imprints itself as a trace on the skin. The naked figure, lying on the sand marked by the waves, offers itself without a face, subtracting individual identity to become a universal body. The rhythmic lines of the seabed recall grooves, engravings, enlarged fingerprints: primary signs, natural memories that speak of origin, belonging, and transformation.
The work is part of the research into the relationship between identity, the body, and the natural environment, examining how the landscape shapes self-perception. Fingerprints thus becomes a reflection on the imprint we leave and on the imprint the world leaves on us.
The self-portrait “Fingerprints” was exhibited during the exhibition “Naked – Part of Us” at Medina Gallery (Rome), in the exhibition “Nuovi Corpi” at ContArt (Rome), and was presented in the exhibition “Impatto” on the occasion of TEDx Women 2024.
