Vase in clear crystal with a deep prune overlay, attributed to Val Saint Lambert (Belgium) from the 1950s–1960s, in Art Deco style, height 21 cm, top diameter 7 cm, base diameter 8.5 cm, weight 1100 g, featuring geometric facets and a prune‑coloured flash, with a lightly engraved base bearing CNPPA‑NCPGR initials and a large B, in good to very good condition with a small internal collar chip.
Description from the seller
Cornet vase / footed on a pedestal in cut crystal with prune overlay (prune overlay / flashed prune cut-to-clear), attributed to Val Saint Lambert, vintage era (about the 1950s–1960s, mid-century style).
Features :
- Height: 21 cm
Neck diameter: 7 cm
- Foot diameter: 8.5 cm
Weight: 1100 g
- Technique: clear crystal with a deep plum tint, cut into deep geometric motifs (diamond- and lozenge-shaped facets on the body, a band of diamond-cut facets around the neck). Elegant flared shape with a flared neck and a wide, stable base.
- Slightly raised engraving on the base: coat of arms + letters CNPPA - NCPGR and a large B below (probably a commemorative engraving or gift from a Belgian association; CNPPA-NCPGR stands for the National Confederation of Political Prisoners and Heirs (Nationale Confederatie van Politieke Gevangenen en Rechthebbenden), the Belgian organization of former political prisoners of World War II and their heirs – the "B" could mean "Brussels" or a regional section). No Val Saint Lambert signature visible, but the style, quality of carving and plum-doubled finish typical of Belgian production of the era and reproduced in various catalogs.
Condition: good to very good – brilliance preserved, no external chipping or crack; a small internal chip visible at the neck (manufacturing defect or internal inclusion of origin, no external impact or flaking). No other notable wear.
Rare piece due to its sophisticated plum shade (an uncommon color for vintage Val Saint Lambert), its commemorative engraving CNPPA-NCPGR (historical link with the Belgian Resistance 1940-1945) and its imposing form, ideal for collectors of mid-century Belgian crystal, colored double-layer glass, WWII commemorative objects, or fans of geometric shapes.
Careful shipment.
