Very rare and large silkscreen by Cleon Peterson, it was part of his Los Angeles show 'Truth & Lies' in 2021! This edition will go down in art history—attention to collectors!
Cleon Peterson was born in 1973 in Seattle. He grows up in a bohemian family environment, encouraging creativity. Asthmatic during his youth, he practices drawing during his numerous hospitalizations. Later, when he lives in New York, he falls into drugs and spends time in prison and in a psychiatric hospital. It is from this experience that the artist feeds his work today.
Urban violence, the ghettos and the tension that prevails there are thus at the heart of his works. "I paint a reality that not everyone has necessarily lived through but that exists, that is out there. There is a kind of primal life that goes with this misery, that’s what I try to address in my paintings," the artist confides, apart from any moral judgment.
In parallel with his painting career, Cleon Peterson is a highly respected graphic designer in the skateboarding world. In 1998, he joined Shepard Fairey's California-based team of assistants.
In 2009, he secured his first solo exhibition in Los Angeles and has continued to pursue numerous projects ever since. In 2014, he painted a 50-meter mural at the Palais de Tokyo.
Rare screen print by this street art virtuoso! He joins the ranks of the greatest artists of the early 21st century, alongside Banksy, Murakami, Kaws, or Seen!
As a reminder - The works we sell are meant to be framed, and the illustration photos with frames show an overview of the result. Image rights are the property of the artist. All artworks will be delivered rolled in tubes. Happy bidding to all!
