The Austrian painter Wilhelm Dachauer (1881–1951) is known, though, primarily for his postage-stamp designs, for example the Nibelungen series, and for portraits, as well as for works that thematize the interior.
His interior images are often associated with accentuated naturalism or the Heimat style. He frequently designed interior scenes with a high level of detail that went beyond mere photographic realism.
Many of his early works depict rural scenes and interiors from his homeland region of Innviertel, which often carry a symbolic or idealized note.
