A walnut solid-wood open bookshelf in a neoclassical/imperial architectural style, dating to 1950–1960, 170 cm wide, 256 cm high and 47 cm deep, made in Italy and in very good condition with light signs of use and aging.
Description from the seller
This imposing open-back bookcase is a piece of furniture of great prestige and visual impact, characterized by a design that imitates the classical architecture of temples. Its tall and formal structure makes it the ideal piece for a library, a study, or a lounge that seeks monumental elegance.
Style and Material Details
Architectural Design: The bookshelf is topped by a triangular pediment (timpano), typical of classical orders, which gives it a majestic bearing and a strong identity.
Fluted Columns: The central opening to the shelves is framed by two imposing fluted side columns (half-columns), with bases and capitals (in this case stylized or with simple friezes) that reinforce the Neoclassical or Imperial aesthetics.
Wood and Premium Finish: Crafted from solid wood with a rich, dark brown-red finish that highlights the deep grain (likely walnut). Its great height (268.5 cm) and weight of 92.2 kg attest to its solid and monumental construction.
Open-display shelving: the interior is divided into five long open shelves with a solid base, perfect for displaying books, antique volumes, or collectible objects. The lower base serves as a thick plinth.
Recommended Uses
Private Library: Ideal as a centerpiece for antique or collectible volumes.
Studio or Executive Office: Adds prestige and authority to the environment.
Salon: It can function as an exhibition showcase or as a sculptural frame for art objects.
