Large bronze axe blade in beautiful condition.
Age: 2nd millennium BC (Bronze Age, Near East)
Size: Length 20.3 cm and width 8.9 cm. Weight 174.8 g
Condition: Beautifully preserved
This large axe blade from the Bronze Age dates back to the 2nd millennium BC and was probably made in the Middle East, an important center of early metalworking. With a length of 20.3 cm and a width of 8.9 cm, it is a magnificent example of the advanced technology of this era. The weight of 174.8 g underlines the solid and functional construction of the axe blade.
The blade is very beautiful and shows only minimal signs of use. Its shape and structure testify to the high level of craftsmanship that early cultures developed in the manufacture of bronze weapons and tools. Such axe blades were used both as tools and as weapons and played an important role in agriculture and warfare.
Provenance: The object comes from a private English collection and belonged to an important British estate from London, the A. F. Collection, collected between 1980 and 2015.
