【Product details】

This impressive modern Japanese samurai armour set is a full child-size wearable display armour (May Festival armour), faithfully made in the style of traditional armour and offering a strong presence for collection or display.

In Japan, this type of armour is traditionally displayed for Boys’ Day (Tango no Sekku, 5 May) as a symbol of protection, strength, and wishes for a child’s healthy growth and bright future.

The set features a black lacquered suji-bachi helmet with a large kuwagata crest and a circular front crest, along with chrysanthemum crest fittings. The circular crest is a powerful protective emblem often associated with completeness and harmony, while the chrysanthemum motif is widely recognised in Japan as a symbol of longevity, prosperity, and noble tradition. Beautiful patterned detailing is applied to the side guards, and the set also includes a neck guard and a half face mask for an authentic warrior appearance.

The cuirass is constructed from layered black lacquered plates and carefully laced in the Iroiro-odoshi style using orange, white, and purple cords, with gold tassels at the chest adding a festive accent. The shoulder guards are finished in the same colour scheme, and the arm guards incorporate chain elements with black lacquered iron plates. The thigh and shin guards are made with richly patterned brocade fabric featuring traditional motifs, giving the entire set a unified finish down to the legs.

It comes complete with a black lacquered armour storage box decorated with gold metal fittings at the corners, as well as a wooden display stand.

As a modern piece, the overall condition is good to very good. Minor blemishes may be present, including small scuffs or light scratches on metal parts, slight paint wear, and mild fuzziness to the cords. Please refer to the photos for details.

Dimensions of Box: approx. H 40 cm W 41.5 cm D 41.5 cm
