Nederlandsche Historien by P. C. Hooft is an illustrated Dutch edition bound in original vellum, 1242 pages, 33.5 × 22.5 cm, published in 1677 by J. van Someren, Abraham Wolfgang, Hendr. en D. Boom, and includes a frontispiece and 16 plates in good condition.

Dutch Historians.
Amsterdam, Johan van Someren, Abraham Wolfgang, Hendrik and Dirk Boom, 1677. In folio.
Frontispiece and title page engraved at the front. The work also contains 16 plates, most of which are portraits (see photos). Equipped with flyleaves at the front and back.
Original vellum binding with raised bands and blind embossing. The title in gold letters on the spine.
The records and text pages are in good condition, with normal signs of use appropriate to their age. The binding shows normal wear, particularly at the bottom of the spine where two cracks are visible. See photos for details.

The detailed engraving, drawn by Gerard de Lairesse, depicts an allegorical scene.
In the center sits the Dutch Maiden on a throne, holding a bundle of arrows as a symbol of unity. Beside her stand Mars, the god of war, and Mercury, the god of commerce. At her feet lies the Dutch Lion. The title of the book can be read on a cloth hanging beneath the lion.
'Nederlandsche Historien' describes the history of the Eighty Years' War, from the transfer of sovereignty by Emperor Charles V to the death of William of Orange.
