- Gerd Ludwig, March 17, 1947, Alsfeld, Germany. Documentary photographer, studied at Folkwang Hochschule with Professor Otto Steinert in Essen, co-founder of photo studio VISUM, Hamburg. In 1984 he moved to New York and in the 1990s became a contract photographer for National Geographic, specializing in environmental topics, Chernobyl, and the changes that followed the dissolution of the Soviet Union.
