Description from the seller

Sint-Theresia of Lisieux – plaster – France – first half of the 20th century.

Professionally shipped – more than 850 five-star reviews worldwide.

Religious sculpture of Saint Thérèse of Lisieux, made in patinated plaster and hand-painted. The saint is depicted in the Carmelites' habit and with roses in her arms – references to her nickname 'the Little Flower' and her promise to, after her death, let roses rain down as a symbol of grace. The serene facial expression, soft color variations, and lifelike details testify to refined atelier work from the mid-twentieth century.

On the reverse is signed J.W.T.H. Venlo, referring to the workshop of Jean Wilhelmus Thissen in Venlo, active in the first half of the 20th century.

Height about 50 cm. In good condition with light signs of aging and a natural patina. A rose in her arms is missing. The worn condition adds to the charm and authenticity of the whole.

Please look at the photos carefully, they are part of the description.

Sent with track & trace.
