Description from the seller
Title: Raggi2 Artist: Nino Calvo
Technique: Acrylic on canvas, spatula work
Dimensions: 100 x 86 cm
This large canvas (H 100 W 86 cm) sees Nino Calvo explore the force of matter through the use of the spatula. The composition is dominated by centrifugal dynamism: the color is "stretched" with decisive gestures starting from a luminous central fulcrum. The chromatic layering among ochre, blues, and reds creates a visual depth that challenges the bidimensionality of the support, transforming the painted surface into a field of energetic forces in continuous expansion.
Nino Calvo is a contemporary artist whose work draws on light and the artistic tradition of Sicily. Trained between the Art High School and the Academy of Fine Arts of Noto, Calvo has shown from a young age a multifaceted expressive versatility that led him not to limit himself to painting alone. His career is marked by a continual exploration of visual languages: in a first phase he gave form to his vision through sculpture and scenography, and today his production extends into photography and video. This evolution reflects a constant need to probe reality from multiple angles, while always preserving the painting sensibility acquired during his years of academic training.
