Description from the seller
Pair of blue glass curtain finials with brass mounting
Description
Elegant pair of blown-glass curtain finials, characterized by an intense cobalt blue hue adorned with white and transparent decorations fused into the glass mass.
The oval, slightly elongated shape evokes decorative motifs with a classical, ornamental taste, ideal for completing grand curtains, antique rods, or refined displays.
The base is made of turned brass, with a natural patina of age, in keeping with the period and its use.
Decorative objects with a strong visual impact, typical of the production of the second half of the twentieth century, appreciated both as functional accessories and as ornamental elements.
Technical specifications
Type: Knobs/finials for curtains
Material: Hand-blown and handcrafted Murano glass.
Frame: Brass
Color: cobalt blue with white murrine
Era: Second half of the 20th century
Quantity: Pair
Dimensions: 22.4 cm long and 8 cm in diameter; Total weight: 1.324 kg
Conditions
Good overall condition
There are light superficial scratches and small glass firing defects, particularly visible on one of the knobs (as shown in the photographs), consistent with artisanal production and with the age of the items.
The brass mount shows normal patina.
Curiosity
Murrine decorations are among the most recognizable techniques of the Murano tradition: small sections of colored glass canes that, once fused into the hot glass, create regular and intricate motifs, making each piece unique.
Shipping
Careful and professional packaging, with shock protection adequate to the fragility of the glass.
Tracked shipment.
