Mechanical aquarium clock made of glass, brass and cellulose, with a multi‑day power reserve and no striking, of European origin, in good used condition and in working order, measuring 20×12×12 cm and weighing 680 g with no winding key.
Description from the seller
Stupendous and incredible antique Aquario mechanical clock, dating from the late 1940s to the 1950s. Made by a master craftsman.
The idea behind this watch was undoubtedly to create a timepiece that would also have the function of appearing as an aquarium. The small upper fish rotate, making full circles around the transparent blue glass, while the lower fish moves in place, raising and lowering its head and tail.
A watch that evokes the idea of an aquarium, already conceived within a 'Pet Save' concept, as it does not cause suffering or restraint to living animals.
You can watch the video on YouTube of the clock in operation by typing into YouTube's search the exact words "antico orologio meccanico pesciolini".
If you observe it from a distance, with a backlight, it looks just like a real Aquarium, with shadows of its movements reflected on the surrounding surfaces.
In the mechanism (photo), a part seems to be missing; there was probably a third intermediate row of little fish that over the years must have been lost.
The little fish should be in celluloid, as should one of the gears in the mechanism (I think to reduce friction).
The Bell in the upper part, with parts in silver and in cloisonné enamel style, to reproduce the colors of the sea background.
Very beautiful, in good working condition, rare, antique and unobtainable.
Splendid, curious object, a great conversation piece, extremely exclusive.
