Plastic Diplomacy tackles the theme of political confrontation and institutional power through ironic and direct language, inspired by the aesthetics of pop culture.
The two figures, built as artificial and modular bodies, face each other in a scene charged with symbolic tension, where dialogue turns into a clash and diplomacy takes on the traits of a theatrical performance.
The flags in the background do not serve a celebratory purpose, but become structural elements of the composition, marking the division of space and emphasizing the ideological distance between the subjects.
The use of stylized and 'plastic' figures reduces the complexity of power to simplified forms, highlighting the performative, constructed, and at times grotesque nature of contemporary politics.
Acrylic painting, enriched with mixed-media interventions, gives the work a tactile, vibrant surface, creating a contrast between the painterly hand and the artificiality of the depicted subjects.
The artwork is created on thick professional canvas and is conceived as a one-of-a-kind piece.
There are no reproductions or copies.
It is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist.
ARTIST PROFILE
Sun Siyu Rebecca is an emerging artist working in the field of contemporary painting, with research focused on the blending of pop language, symbolic iconography, and social reflection.
From childhood she has shown a strong interest in drawing and experimenting with different materials. At the age of 9 she moves to Italy, an experience that deeply marks her personal and creative journey. In a new linguistic and cultural context, art becomes for her a fundamental tool of communication, through which she expresses thoughts and emotions.
During the 2020 pandemic period, she came into contact with the artist Barbara Nicoletto, an encounter that brought her more consciously closer to the art world and led her to develop a more mature painterly inquiry, oriented toward expressing complex concepts and refining technique, particularly in oil and acrylic painting.
His works stand out for a fresh, contemporary style, characterized by irony, parody, and references to the collective imagination. Through iconic characters and stylized figures, the artist tackles contemporary themes related to power, identity, and communication in modern society.
Each work is conceived as a unique piece, created on canvas by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
