Six-volume collection Les Oeuvres by A. M. de Lamartine, in French, original language, published in 1863 in this format as a first edition, in good condition with blue marbled bindings and leather spines, dimensions 18.5 x 12.5 cm, about 2300 pages in total and a shipping weight of 2.8 kg.
Description from the seller
A very old collection of the Works of Alphonse M. de Lamartine, poet, novelist, dramatist, historian, and French statesman. He is one of the great figures of Romanticism in France. He also takes part in the 1848 revolution and proclaims the Second Republic.
Year of publication: 1863, by Hachette Pagnerre and Furne Editions, Paris.
The books are sturdy and in good condition, with some even in very good condition, described one by one.
Very beautiful marbled blue bindings with leather spines and gold titles.
A very beautiful signature from that era.
- Volume I: Poetic Meditations, The Death of Socrates. 400 pages, in very good condition, mint interior, rare for the era.
Volume II: Poetic Meditations, The Last Song of Harold the Pilgrim / Song of the Sacred, 420 pages. In very good condition, pristine interior, rare for the era. Small signs of wear at the corners.
- Volume III: The Confidences, 390 pages. In good condition, interior darker with light foxing on some pages. Small signs of wear at the corners.
Volume IV: The New Confidences, 320 pages. In good condition, clean inside, rare for the period. Small signs of wear on the corners and one on the front cover.
- Volume V: Jocelyn, a diary found at a village priest's house, 410 pages. In very good condition, fresh interior, rare for the era. Small signs of wear on the corners.
