Description from the seller
Magnificent mask of the Phoenician god Hermes Sakkon made in the workshops of ArtSolutionsTheming, Morón de la Frontera, Spain.

The aged finish lends a noble patina that evokes antiquity, like the original archaeological pieces buried in time. The mask is presented on an enameled iron stand in an oxide color.
Dimensions and Weight
Total measurements: 20 x 50 x 15 cm
Mask measurements: 20 x 33 x 14 cm
Weight: 12 kg, providing stability and sculptural presence.
Condition of preservation
Like-new condition, guaranteeing excellence for the item.
Historical and Artistic Context
The figure represents Hermes (son of Zeus and Maia in Greek myth), a divinity resulting from the syncretism between Greek Hermes and the Phoenician god Sakkon. This religious fusion reflects the cultural exchanges in the ancient Mediterranean world, especially in commercial sanctuaries such as the Piraeus, where Phoenician-Punic merchants worshipped Baal and Sakkon. The original prototype of these representations dates to the early decades of the 4th century BCE, later copied in multiple versions that have come down to us. The specific iconography of Hermes Sakkon includes distinctive triangular elements on the forehead, incomprehensible from the classical Greek perspective but explainable by Phoenician tradition.
Versatility and Functionality
For indoor and outdoor use.
The natural strength of limestone allows it to be used both indoors and outdoors. The material is immune to moisture, temperature changes, and atmospheric agents, helping to maintain the lime element and its integrity and durability over time. (Calcium conglomerate fused to lime)
Aesthetic Qualities
The combination of weight, resistance, and beauty makes this piece an exceptional decorative element. Its sculptural presence adds timeless elegance and sophistication to any environment, from private collections to high-end commercial spaces.
