Zandafgraving bij Ede is an original impressionist oil painting by Dick Ket (1902-1940) dated 1910–1920, measuring 17 by 21.5 cm (with frame 34 by 29 cm), signed and in good condition, originating from the Netherlands, sold with frame.
Description from the seller
A very charming and intimate painted landscape, attributed to and most likely by Dick Ket (1902-1940), dating from 1928. The work depicts a tranquil Veluwe landscape near Ede, with a low horizon, an open field, and a compact grouping of trees under a lightly clouded sky. The handling of the paint is sober yet precise, with a natural color palette and a balanced composition that sits well within Ket’s early landscape oeuvre.
Painted in oil on artist's board. The painting is signed on the back and dated. The work is in good, original condition, with light signs of aging that are appropriate to its age and the material.
The painting is placed in a matching wooden frame, which nicely frames the work and enhances its character.

Dick Ket (Den Helder, 1902 – Bennekom, 1940) was a Dutch painter and draftsman and is counted among the most important representatives of magical realism in the Netherlands. Due to a congenital heart defect and his frail health Ket led a withdrawn life and was largely housebound. This isolation had a great influence on his oeuvre, which is characterized by intense concentration, technical precision, and a still atmosphere.
Ket was largely self-taught. In his early years he painted landscapes and cityscapes, often in the area around Ede and Bennekom, where he spent a significant part of his life. In these works there is still a certain kinship with realism and late impressionism. From the 1930s onward he developed his distinctive style, especially in still lifes where he experimented with perspective, reflections, and symbolism.
His work is praised for its exceptional technical mastery and the almost obsessive attention to detail. Despite his short life, Dick Ket left behind a relatively small but highly influential oeuvre. Today his work is included in major museum collections, including the Museum Arnhem and the Kröller-Müller Museum.
Dick Ket is regarded as a key figure within Dutch art of the interwar period and enjoys great appreciation among collectors and art historians.
