Bronze Vajra from Tibet, dating to the 20th century, height 17.5 cm, width 4.5 cm, depth 4.5 cm, weight 420 g, in good condition.

A vajra (Tibetan: dorje) is one of the most important ritual objects in Tibetan Buddhism and has a deep symbolic meaning.
Symbolism
The vajra symbolizes indestructibility and immutability.

The word 'vajra' literally means 'diamond' or 'thunderbolt' in Sanskrit.

Symmetrical shape with a central sphere and protruding points at both ends
Traditionally, a vajra has 5, 9 or more points (ribs) on each end.
The central ball represents the absolute truth.
Usage:
Used during rituals and ceremonies in combination with a ghanta (ritual bell)
The vajra is held in the right hand (symbolizes method/compassion)
The bell is held in the left hand (symbolizes wisdom)
