Description from the seller
Rare Braun portable suitcase phonograph, turntable model 'PC3', produced in the 1950s, designed by Dieter Rams.
An object with a very modern design, considering that it is more than 50 years old.
Equipped with four speeds: 16-33-45-78 rpm.
The suitcase is wooden, covered with white and red faux leather with metal grills. The turntable platter, on the other hand, is made of white ABS plastic with an internal metal mechanism.
An interesting feature is that you can close it as if it were a briefcase and carry it using the built-in handle.
The turntable is functioning but still in need of servicing because every so often the tonearm slips forward, skipping small sections of the vinyl, probably needs adjustment. The valve (tube) amplifier works well, with a powerful voice. The sound obviously cannot be described as high fidelity; it’s the typical sound of the 60s. The tone control is working.
Equipped with the original SK451 model cartridge and a three-valve amplifier, each valve with seven pins.
A highly appealing item for collectors of vintage audio and electronics.
Aesthetically preserved in good vintage condition, it shows signs of aging and use on the faux leather upholstery; moreover, I must point out that the round plate has a crack, visible in the photo.
Closed dimensions: 28 x 34 x 18 cm.
