Description from the seller

Author: Maurits Cornelis Escher (1898-1972)
Title: "HELL" (1935)
Size: 65 x 55cm
Copyright: The M.C. Escher Company - Baarn - The Netherlands.
Offset print, made on 180g high-quality matt paper. Displays a vivid and sharp image quality.
Just the right size to frame. Impressive effect when framed.
Shipping in a rigid tube via certified express mail.
It is possible to collect more than one object, from the same auction, in the same shipment.

Escher created “Hell” based on a detail of Bosch’s famous triptych The Garden of Earthly Delights; specifically, the right-hand panel portraying Hell.
In Escher’s version you see a surreal cavernous space, with grotesque figures, ladders, boats stuck in ice, and a giant hollowed-out human torso forming part of the landscape.
It’s one of the few works by Escher that is a direct copy or adaptation of another artist’s scene — normally Escher is known for original compositions of tessellations and impossible structures.
