Hermès Brides de Gala silk twill scarf, 90 × 90 cm, made in France, in very good vintage condition.
Description from the seller
Silk scarf by Hermès "Brides de Gala" | Created in 1957 | Vintage example from the late 1980s–1990s | Silk | Ice Brown
Hermès Paris silk scarf, iconic Brides de Gala design, created in 1957 by Hugo Grygkar, a leading illustrator of the golden age of Hermès scarves. This design is one of the House's foundational models and reflects Hermès' long-standing attachment to the equestrian world, at the heart of its identity since 1837.
The motif depicts ceremonial bridles and richly decorated gala harnesses, inspired by the gear used for grand occasions and official parades. The symmetrical composition and the delicacy of the drawing convey the artistic rigor and craftsmanship for which Hermès is renowned.
This example is a vintage reissue dating from the late 1980s to the 1990s. It is distinguished by a highly detailed illustration, classic typography, and an elegant color palette combining frosted brown, cream, and gold, characteristic of Hermès productions from that period.
Made in 100% silk twill, crafted in France, in the classic 90 × 90 cm size, with hand-rolled edges, this scarf reflects the quality of craftsmanship and the durability of vintage Hermès squares.
Condition: very good vintage condition.
Silk remains soft and pleasant to the touch, with colors well preserved.
There are faint color transfer marks visible on some lighter areas. It is a purely cosmetic feature commonly found on vintage Hermès scarves and does not affect the fabric’s structure, drape, or wearability of the piece.
Brides de Gala is a model particularly appreciated by Hermès collectors and enthusiasts of heritage pieces, for its historical importance, its timeless design, and its strong symbolic value within the House’s collections.
